How do I copy from windows clipboard into VI session?

trying to add my Google analytics code to every page on my site.

I want to paste in into every file. I have it in Notepad++.
If I open a file in VI, using Putty to connect is it easy to just paste into the VI session?

Right-click in PuTTY to paste. Make sure you are in an input mode in vi first.

Actually, put the code you need to add in its own file and add it to each site file using :r in vi to read it in below the current line:

Code:
<ESC (go to command mode)>:r filename

Even better, write a script to automatically do the inserting.

Correct. "sed" was given to us for a purpose and we must not be blasphemous or ingrate to Ken, Brian and Denis in not using what they gave to us. ;-))

Code:
ls /files/to/edit | while read FILE ; do
     sed '$ r /path/to/addition.file' "$FILE" > "$FILE".changed
done

will append the contents of "/path/to/file.addition" at the end of every file and save the result in file.changed.

I hope this helps.

I see your sed, and raise you a find. This will add the contents of "/path/to/file.addition" to the top of every file found.
Code:
find . -name /files/to/edit -exec ksh -c 'cat /path/to/file.addition $1 > $1.changed' _ {} \;

It should use xargs instead if the list returned is too big.
