Command to find 32/64 bit in Linux
Hi,

Can somebody tell me which command will help me find whether the OS is 32 bit or 64 bit.

In Solaris 'isainfo -v' will tell you, but since Linux mostly runs on Intel hardware, there is a 99% chance it is 32.

Well, you're right, but a command would still be nice. 64 bit will become more common as time goes on. We have a 64/32 bit article in our faq section which addresses the question for several platforms. I looked for a linux command but didn't find one.

You can run file on an executable to tell if it is 32/64 bit. Not sure which file in Linux as I know little about it.

This is how I determine which Oracle is installed: file `which oracle`

I am trying to find pictures which contains a specific word in the file name. For example any .JPG files that contains "lm" at the beginning or at the middle or at the end of the file name. find / -iname "*.jpg" | ...what should go after the pipe? regards, Moaathe (2 Replies)

I am trying to map the information from the gensyms command, Its gives information about the various symbols info like symbol type, addr offset, and the main libraries addr starting point.
