Bash script

Hi,

I need a little help to change the code at the bottom. I must get "hostname" and "sessionNumbers" in one statement. So, i need to assign "substr( $5, length($5) )" to "sessionNumbers" in first awk code part. But i don't know, how can i do this. Is this possible?
Code:
sessionNumbers=substr( $5, length($5) )

Code:
#hostnames of suspended sessions
hostname=`/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo | awk -v beforeDay=$day '$4=="S"{

                print substr( $5, 0, length($5) - 2 )
}'`

# DISPLAY numbers
sessionNumbers=`/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo | awk -v beforeDay=$day '$4=="S"{

               print substr( $5, length($5) )
}'`

Thanks for your helps.

It is possible. Please show us a sample of the expected input, and then a sample what you want for output.

Sample input from "/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo " command is here :
Code:
[root@tttttttt1 /root/scripts]#/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo

hostname must include "localhost", "xxx.qqq.com", "yyy.qqq.com", "zzz.qqq.com"

sessionNumbers must include "1", "3", "5", "2".

"/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo " command must use only one time. Because command's output might be change instantly.

I am grateful for your help.

That helps a lot, Please show us an example of what you want to see in your report.
What I'm trying to say is that it looks like you are trying to assemble environment variables by calling awk over and over. That is usually a bad idea.

That doesn't work reliably for transient data as you already know. What I want to do is write a single awk statement the does everything. Until we see "everything we cannot help you code it.

This is all I can do now, and it may not be what you want:
Code:
cmd='/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo'

$cmd | awk ' /@/ && $5 ~ /[1235]$/    {print $5}'  > myreport.txt

Here is the full code. I only removed some calculations doing with variable called beforeDay. They are not necessary and they lengthen the code.

After i get hostnames and session numbers, i will connect to hosts(inside the variable called "hostname") with ssh one by one. And then i will find the PID of process numbers using session numbers(inside the variable called "sessionNumber"). Lastly, i will kill that process, But killing part is not written in the code, because i am just testing the code now.

Actually i can do it writing output of "./ecsinfo" command to a file for once, and i can use this file rest of the code. But i don't want to use this method. If i can get and fill session numbers inside the first awk code part, it will be useful for me.

Code:
#!/bin/bash

day=$1
declare -a sessionWithEWebHost
declare -a sessionArray

#hostnames of suspended sessions
hostname=`/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo | awk -v beforeDay=$day '$4=="S"{
                print substr( $5, 0, length($5) - 2 )
}'`

# DISPLAY numbers
sessionNumbers=`/opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/bin/./ecsinfo | awk -v beforeDay=$day '$4=="S"{

               print substr( $5, length($5) )
}'`

#convert to array
sessionArray=(${sessionNumbers// / })

for (( i = 0 ; i < ${#sessionArray[@]} ; i++ )) do
        sessionWithEWebHost[$i]="ewebhost :"${sessionArray[$i]}
done

echo -e "\n\nList of sessions and hosts\n"
counter=0
for i in $hostname; do # echo "-----------------$i------------------"

        sessionPIDNumber=`ssh -p 22 root@$i "cat /opt/Opentext/Exceed_Connection_Server_13.7_64/sessions/'${sessionArray[$counter]}'/mypid"`
        echo "PID-->"$sessionPIDNumber
        let counter=counter+1;
done

And I am sorry, my english is not quite well. I tried to write clearly as possible as. I hope everything will be clear for you and you can help me Smilie

PS:
The code that i don't remove anything. Full code is this :

Code:
#!/bin/bash

then

 echo "Usage: $0 N_days"
 echo "Example(Kill EOD sessions older than 2 days): ./eod_suspend_kill.sh 2"

fi
