Detect New Disk in Red Hat

Hello,

Wanted to know if there is a way to detect a new disk added to the Red Hat system without restarting the server.

Thanks.

Yes!

Actually, there's an answer in the "similar posts" section at the bottom of the page, as you read this.

Detect the lun

(it's post 4. You just need to know which SCSI bus the disk is on)

I looked at the other posts.
Will try whats mentioned there.

What I was looking for was a way to detect similar to "devfsadm" command in Solaris.
This allows you to check for any attached devices without rebooting.

I just Googled "cfgmgr AIX Linux" and got this:

AIX-to-Linux Quick Start Comparison

I use AIX more than Solaris, but in there, if you search for cfgmgr, you'll find the same rescan command.
