UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi , Migrating AIX 4.3.3 ML10 to 5.3 ML1 (retaining 32 bit)
after successfully going through 5 of the 5.3 Install CD's. After "All fileset's processed successfully " message I was told that system would reboot and then I would get prompted for setting TERm type ( i have an ascii ibm3151) and eventually get acceptance of "License".
issue here is that machine starts to reboot successfully, but its been over two hours, LED displays Starting kernel.

would appreciate assitance...thnx

before this thread gets closed ...would like to shed some more light.
I was able to get system to reboot, started a restore from a 5.3 backup..
now system hangs at 0c20 and consol is at KDB prompt
also consol showed several lines displaying message """Update_Status Killed 9178 Overmounting '/'""""

oc20 states "An unexpected halt occurred, and the system is configured to enter the kernel debug program instead of entering a system dump."

now what? is there anyway I can configure system to dump file rathr than halt at KDB prompt.
