Delete file older than three days

I am using SFTP to transmit files from the Mainframe to an UNIX server. I am looking for some kind of script that runs with SFTP to delete tranmitted files older than 3 days.

Can this be done in a SFTP transmission batch job?

You can use find, someting like below on your shell script.

Code:
find . -ctime +3-print | xargs -I '{}' rm {}

this will delete files older than 3 days.

Delete file older than three days

The find command can not be used when I am using SFTP. If I use !find then this will be used against the local directories. I am trying to do this command against the Remote Directory.

not sure how to do this though sftp but you can use winscp to do it faster until someone gives you a answer.

You have to add a ! symbol while using your standard command in sftp..

Code:
!find newfile
#which means it will find the file newfile in your local machine

You can create a control file with the list of SFTP commands and pass it:-

Let us assume that we are transferring 3 files: file1, file2, file3 and file4 is older than 3 days, then control file should be like:-

Code:
cat sftp_control.cntrl
put file1
put file2
put file3
rm file4

Then run the control file:-
Code:
sftp -b sftp_control.cntrl user@hostname

You can create control file using a shell script which will help you to identify 3 days older files.
