Network CRON problem

I am having a problem running a shell within CRON. It will run successfully if I do not inject a .profile into the entry. However, the second I place a . profile in front of the shell, the job does not execute. Any ideas?

Post your crontab entry, as you currently have it, the profile should be used within the script you are calling, not in the crontab.

here is the entry

30 00 * * 6 . /essbase/.profile; /essbase/cron_proc/BACKUP_ON

Unfortunately, the job does not run if I have the /essbase/.profile in the crontab line. Any ideas?

move
. /essbase/.profile

into start of the script /essbase/cron_proc/BACKUP_ON
