Bug XML File editing in HP-UX

Hi All,

I have attached the original file and the file that I have edited, please have a look.

The files are named as follows original.xml and updated.xml

The chunk of data that we don’t we need is below

At the start of the file: The below data is not required

Code:
  <Data DataNodeName="Rpt_CrossCcyRates" DataType="XML">
  <Rpt_CrossCcyRates xmlns="urn:schemas.reval.com:repCrossCcy">
  <CrossCcyDef>
    <CreateDate>2012-08-31 02:10:54</CreateDate>
    <RateSource>1</RateSource>
    <QuoteType>3</QuoteType>
    <FromCcy>AED, AMD, ARS, AUD, BBD, BGN, BHD, BND, BRL, BRO, CAD, CHF, CLP, CNH, CNO, CNY, COP, CRC, CYP, CZK, DKK, DOP, DZD, EEK, EGP, EUR, FJD, GBP, GTQ, GYD, HKD, HNL, HRK, HUF, IDO, IDR, ILS, INR, IQD, ISK, JOD, JPY, KES, KRW, KWD, KZT, LBP, LKR, LTL, LVL, MAD, MKD, MOP, MTL, MUR, MXN, MYO, MYR, MZN, NOK, NZD, OMR, PEN, PGK, PHO, PHP, PKR, PLN, QAR, RON, RSD, RUB, SAR, SEK, SGD, SKK, THB, THO, TND, TRL, TRY, TTD, TWD, TWO, UAH, USD, UYU, VEB, VEF, VND, XAF, XPF, YER, ZAR</FromCcy>
    <ToCcy>USD</ToCcy>
    <StartDate>2012-08-31</StartDate>
    <EndDate>2012-08-31</EndDate>
    <Interval>Daily</Interval>
    <ApplyMktConv>1</ApplyMktConv>
  </CrossCcyDef>

At the end of the file: The below data is not required

Code:
  </Rpt_CrossCcyRates>
  </Data>

I have run the above below two commands to achieve this but in vain.

Code:
sed -n -e '/<\?xml .* \?>/p' original.xml > header.xml

sed -n -e '/<CrossCcyRates>/,/</CrossCcyRates>/p' original.xml >> header.xml

When i run the first command the line <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
comes to header.xml

But when i run the second command everything along with the unwanted data that i have mentioned above comes to the header.xml

Please help me with this.

Regards
Srikaka

This should work on the data provided:
Code:
sed 's/.*</CrossCcyDef>//;s/</Rpt_CrossCcyRates>//;/^[  ]*</Data>[  ]*$/d' original.xml > required.xml
