To change permissions in mv or cp

Is there any option with mv or cp command so that a file permissions and name of the file can be changed in single mv or cp command. I searched man mv but doesn't found any option like that.

permissions are changed from the command line only with the chmod command.

You can create a function, call it mcp, for example:

Code:
# this codes goes in your .profile file
# $1 == source file
# $2 == dest file
mcp()
{
     cp "$1" "$2"
     chmod 755 "$2"
}

usage:
Code:
mcp /tmp/filename.lis $HOME/myfile.txt

You can use install(1).
Code:
install -m 644 <src> <dest>

Good idea! Note, however, that command syntax as well as default behavior changes from system to system.

AIX "install", for instance, will per default change user/group to "bin:bin" unless told otherwise by the "-O <owner>" and "-G <group>" switches.

I hope this helps.
