Remove the echo if you are happy.
You see, it still uses mv!
By the way, do you have any disposition towards long,convoluted,unnecessary command lines?

You realize, you're not doing it with awk instead -- you're just using awk to call a shell, which calls mv? awk is just a text processor.

By using awk "instead" of mv, you're using awk, mv, and an extra shell(for 'system').

Two languages and three steps instead of one language, one step.
