NIS+ and trusted hosts
Hello there,

Can someone tell me if you need to make the hosts trusted hosts if you use NIS+?

The answer depends on what level of trusted host you are looking for.

Do you want all hosts within the domain to trust each other for certain user(s) or is is it a case of one central trusted host, or is it that you want to make the hosts equivalent so that a user only need to authenticate when logging in for the first time on any machine within the domain?

"Trusted System" usually means a system that complies with one of the higher levels (C2 or higher) defined in Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria, aka The Orange Book. If that is what is meant here, no you do not need to put a system into trusted mode to use NIS+. In fact, you are not even allowed to use NIS+ in trusted mode.
