Limitation in addition
whats wrong with this addition?
Whats the maximum number of digits can be handled?

I think bash implements integers as 64-bit long ints (signed). These have a range from

Code:
-9223372036854775808 to 9223372036854775807

(2^64 = 18446744073709551616, spreading this over the 2 sides).

So, once these get exceeded, the numbers start from the other extreme.
