new user to the next generation of the new WORLD UNIX

am a windows Prof .... i deside to go with the UNIX .... but how can i start ......plz help me ........

Hi !
Well... for the beginning... you should install one ;-)
You can download Linux or FreeBSD. This OS are free, like many other unix-like systems. I use FreeBSD and I can say that you can find a lot of documentation for it. FreeBSD handbook is very well organised and, in my opinion, is a good place to start. You cand download it from http://www.freebsd.org/ or, in case that you prefer Linux, go to http://www.linuxiso.org/ and you'll see a list with a few linux distros and links to the .iso images of the install CDs.
Anyway, no matter what your choice is, I'm sure you'll find here a lot of help but, for the beginning, just install a unix system ;-)
