few questions

hi ,
i have got few questions

1) i created a file "-myfile" .how can i remove this?what command shud i issue
2) i used echo "TODAYS DATE" ; DATE..........but date is comoing in second line..how can i make it come in single line?

3) how can i list all files in a directory using for loop ?

1. rm -- -myfile
or
rm ./-myfile

2. remove the semicolon

3. ksh/bash syntax, for sh remove one [ and one ]

for file in * .* ; do
    [[ -f $file ]] && echo $file
done


This looks like homework to me, but because I'm not sure I have answered. If it is homework, please read the rules and note that posting of homework or classroom problems is not allowed here.

THANKS A LOT FOR UR HELP.......Well i am a working proffessional.....i am jus new to unix.....jus got new interest in unix.......there were some case studies in repository which i was trying to solve....i tried for over 30 mins......so i thought i cud post here!! definely this is not hoemwork :-)

and in one of my quesries u asked me to remove ";"

i remove dthat i tried b4 but instead of todays date bien printed string "date" gets printed

its like

TODAY IS date

i want it to be

TODAY is MAY 15........

and in rm -- -myfile

what does "--" mean?

TODAY is `date`

Here, it appears '--' is used to mean 'the rest of the arguments will not be options to rm'.

You can specify a format string with the date command, e.g: date '+Today is %a %d-%b-%y'
