Hi Andy,

I didn't find procmailrc file in /etc/ directory on our mail server.
I located such file, but there is no such file.

So, shall I create new file(procmailrc) with the following code or I have to install some software?

Please revert?

Thanks
Kamlakar

Hi Kamlakar,

You'll want to add the procmail recipe to procmail's global script file, this is normally /etc/procmailrc.

A basic sample procmailrc file follows:

PATH=$HOME/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:.
LOGFILE=/log/procmail.log
LOCKFILE=$HOME/.lockmail

: 0 B
* !^FROM_DAEMON
* .*Content-Disposition:.*attachment
* .*filename="[^\"]+.(bat|com|lnk|pif|vbs)"
{
:0
| echo `date` vb script or sircom >> /root/blocked

:0
/root/mail/blockedmail
}

Hi,

Just adding the procmailrc script should be okay, as I'm 99% sure that procmail is installed on your machine.

When I installed procmail it didn't create any procmailrc files.

In sendmail, the easiest solution may be the procmail solution offered earlier. You can also write a filter, documented in this chapter of the email bomb paper:

http://www.silkroad.com/papers/html/bomb/node10.html

Modify the technique above for filtering based on header & attachment information.

Hi Andy,

I tried this code by creating the procmailrc file in /etc directory, But it is not solving the purpose.
We still receive emails with attachments.

Is there anything I missed out or it depends upon the configuration of sendmail?

Please help.
