Printing a Directory Listing in Unix
Does anyone know if there is a way to print the list of files contained in a directory (besides screen print)? Thanks!!!

ls | lpr -P&ltPRINTER&gt

that should work on most systems as long as you have your printer daemon setup and a printer configured.

*man some of these questions are hard to tell if it is a homework question or not.

Print DIR
I do not mean printing the contents of the files. When you type ls and get the list of file names in the directory on the screen - that is what I want to print, exactly what is displayed on the screen at that moment. Is there a command for that? Thanks!

Do ls -al > filename then just print the file

well if you had tried my command you would notice it also does the same thing with out the i/o writeing to disk then opening a file. you take the output directly from the file to the printer.
