I tried it...

I did try your command Optimus_P it told me option -p was not recognized so I changed it to -d for destination. After hitting enter it just sat there for a long time and would not do anything. I also tried it without the r after lp, which I assume is remote. And it also just sat there. Not sure why. Thanks!

on my system -P is the option for specifying a printer.

One of my printers (connected to one of the HP-UX boxes) is called hp_840, so my command would be:
ll | lpr -dhp_840

The lpr command is a combination of the lp (line printer) and pr (prune) commands. If you have a default printer, or only one printer you may not need the -d option. Also, the case may be that your print setup needs to be fixed...

ya, normally i use lp -d{printer_name} {filename}.

due to the server pointing to many different printers
so using -d option

-d represents printer destination
