solaris internet connection
Hi everyone, I just installed Solaris 10 in my PC. However, once I finished installing it, I lost my internet connection. When I switch to windows, the internet can run smoothly. Does anyone know how to set up internet connection in Solaris ? I am so sorry, I am new in UNIX

Is your network card in the HCL?

Hello reborg.... since I am new to solaris platform, I have no idea about HCL. Could you please tell me more about it ? How do we set it up then ?

did you set up any sort of ip? is it dhcp?? sone details would be nice

Yes, the ip address is assigned by DHCP. Seems that SUN can not detect the NIC. I use RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

That NIC is support in Solaris 10 03/05 see this entry from the HCL

If my NIC is well supported by SUN, why can't I connect to the internet ? Is there any ip configuration that I have to configure? Thank's for the informationSmilie

I got solaris 10 works, but I cannot set up my internet connection. When I ping a website and i open the web browser, it doesn't work. When the installation asked 'Am I in a network?' i answerd 'no'.
