To setup chrooting ftp

Hi Guru's ,

Can some one explain me what is chrooting ftp and how to setup the same in Solaris 10 Local zone (Sparse).

Chrooting can be seen as creating a fake environment (Change Root...) where the user sees a fake root mountpoint and where you put inside ONLY the commands/programs you authorize for the "chrooted" user usage ( you need to recreate a standard unix directory tree...)

I just had to rebuild my Sun Ultra 2 running Solaris 2.5.1 as the boot drive failed. Now I can't log on from the Windows XP using WS_FTP Pro, and can't see the PC on the sun using ftp (it just hangs). user setup - only ftp access

I want to setup a user on my server and only allow that user to ftp to my server but not to be able to get to command line (telnet /ssh) I ammended my /etc/passwd so the users shell would be /usr/bin/false and this prevents log on but it also prevents the ftp.. Any ideas? (1 Reply)
