look at he first post
input file that in the first post
-m means -->
so inpu file has two duplicate lines.
then no problem for "grep -m"
lets your exa input file
only writes at once first matched line with "xyz" , it seem wrong for your input file
because of there is multiple(more than 2) matches..
but if pattern matches more than input then needs different code
or your command
no problem ok.
i have this line of code that looks for the same file if it is currently running and returns the count.
`ps -eaf -o args | grep -i sfs_pcard_load_file.ksh | grep -v grep | wc -l`
basically it is assigned to a variable
