Vi substitution
Hi All,

I tried the following command and it worked:

:%s/' //

FYI - that command as typed will only remove the first occurrence of a single-quote followed by a space on a line. If there could be multiple occurrences on a line, add the global indicator at the end:

:%s/' //g

# 10

You're correct! Thank you for reminding me. I had a hard time understanding the difference between the % and the g at first.

Another FYI for completeness for future searchers. The percent sign means to look on all lines of the file. if you only wanted to apply the search/replace on a range of lines, you can replace the sign with the line number range, i.e.
Code:
:1,10s/' //g

will replace a single-quote followed by a space with nothing, all occurances on a line, only on lines 1 through 10 of the file.
