Vi istallation on Cygwin
Hi,

I have successfully installed the Cygwin on my windows 7 desktop. But i don't know how to install the Vi editor in it.

After so much search i am able to found one vim7.3.tar.bz2. so i download this one and uncompressed, and get vim7.3.

Now i don't know how to intall this Vim in cygwin.It would be great if any body can help me with the installation of Vim.

Looking for the positve response.

I would just use WinVI.

In fact I do use it all the time!

vim is present in cygwin by default it can be found in setup - > EDITOR. Just select VIM and click to set as install. setup will do the rest.

Thats G8 buddy, But i want to do scripting...It would be great if you can tell me how to install vi in Cygwin.

@mtomar yes, you are right it is there under the Editor. but i have done the direct installation from internet and not able to found the setup .exe in the folder tree.

When i am trying to start the instllation again, an error is coming after selecting the site; that setup is not able to find the setup.inf file. so i am not able to do that from there.

Java VI Editor
You can try a fresh installation and also you can download VIM pack with all base packages.
