I need to create a new internal DNS CNAME record called "project.omc.eod" that points to a server called SPARC27.ds.eod. This is my first time doing this and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

this was the request. "Please create a new internal DNS CNAME record called ‘project.omc.eod’ that points to sparc27.ds.eod

Yes, but what platform, one DNS server.. Questions are not asked on a lark for mere curiosity -- the answer matters, you get different advice for different systems/daemons. you gave a barely minimal answer to one of these questions.

thanks corona. i am trying to get an understanding of what the steps are. The above post was the exact request i received and the servers are running solaris 10. The new cname record is supposed to be called project.omc.eod" and should point to SPARC27.ds.eod.
