Power Arranging data

I have thousand lines of data...:
A 1
B 2
C 3
D 4
E 5
A 21
B 22
C 23
D 24
E 25
A 31
B 32
C 33
D 34
E 35

...........
ON AND AND ON


I need to data to be:

A B C D E
1 2 3 4 5
21 22 23 24 25
31 32 33 34 35

Hi.

Using the bash shell:

paste - - - - - < <( cut -f2 -d" " data1 )

producing:
Code:
1	2	3	4	5
21	22	23	24	25
31	32	33	34	35

Placing the column labels is left as an exercise for the OP ... cheers, drl

You did not mention your OS, OS version and shell you use, we cannot guess you know..
