Question Hard disk and file management?

Dear experts,
I have to write a small project named "Hard disk management and file management in Unix/Linux". I have absolutely NO idea about what Unix/Linux is, except that it is operational system. My question to you is: Whats is the difference between Unix and Linux and since the title of my project is as mentioned above, does it mean we are talking about the same thing? Is hard disk managing and file managing in Unix is the same as in Linux???Smilie

I think they are similar, as they both use mountpoints and can use same filesystems.
Solaris uses special partitioning system with slices.
that's all I know.
perhaps it would be easier to answer it if you specify which Unix and Linux. there's a lot of them.

I think (as the title is "Hard disk management and file management in Unix/Linux") it is general. I don't know either, as I mentioned I know NOTHING about these OS. Smilie

OS stands for Operating System.

Unix is one type of Operating System.
Linux is a unix-like type of Operating System.

Unix/Linux means Unix or Linux.
