Maybe you are lucky with this command:

last | grep username

The output looks somewhat like this:

hergp    pts/1        192.168.8.1      Wed Dec 21 09:32   still logged in
hergp    pts/0        192.168.8.1      Wed Dec 21 09:23   still logged in
hergp    pts/0        192.168.8.1      Tue Dec 20 16:01 - 16:52  (00:50)

last may give you an idea of who was logged in at the time the files were deleted but it will not show you who actually deleted the files.

Assuming your "last" supports "last -R":

Code:
last -R | grep \^"username"
