Network newline character in a variable
variable="unix\nlinux"
echo $variable

expected output:
unix
linux

Smilie can i do that ??

Try using quotes. That will preserve the whitespace / newline characters:

Code:
echo "$variable"

printf is better for this kind of thing.

echo -e "$variable"
</CODE>

works
thanks

printf "$variable\n"

would do the same as
Code:
echo -e "$variable"

The printf is portable, the echo (link) might not be. Just if you were interested.
