Using locale

Smilie

Can anyone tell me how to test that locale is working properly in commands like awk, basename, bg, cd, cmp, col, command, csplit, cut, echo, egrep

For ex. suppose I have changed locale using
LC_ALL=german_germany.8859
export LC_ALL

now i want to test(see) it's effect on above all commands,
...please can anyone tell me this with the proper illustration?????????

Thanks,
Abhay

The best I could find was this:
http://docs.rinet.ru/Locale/locale_a.html

I don't know how good it is because I don't know german. Smilie

I also went to http://tldp.org/cgi-bin/ldpsrch.cgi
and did a search on locales. I didn't see in german in specific,
but possibly one of the search results could help you.
