E-mail will not deliver

I am able to send mail to my gmail account and one or two other accounts, but not to my isp e-mail account and another domain I have set up. I am trying to send from VsiFaxServer@ssc.local. And also from root@ssc.local using the mail command at the prompt. When I check the new messages, I found the returned messages below.
Code:

Can you find MX, MB, CNAME or A records on DNS using nslookup and the local DNS server?
Code:
$ nslookup -qt=MX bankofamerica.com
Using /etc/hosts on:  zzzzzzz
looking up FILES
Trying DNS
bankofamerica.com
        origin = ns1.bankofamerica.com
        mail addr = xxx\.yyy.zzz.com
        serial = 2000130885
        refresh = 600 (10 mins)
        retry   = 300 (5 mins)
        expire  = 604800 (7 days)
        minimum ttl = 900 (15 mins)
$ nslookup -qt=MX ibm.com
Using /etc/hosts on:  zzzzzzz

Your target was myisp.com who is 'server' . . . .

nslookup [ options ] target [ optional alternative dns server to use ]

Try something that worked first, then myisp.com !

centurytel.net is myisp.net, I just didn't want a spider robot to swipe my e-mail for spam.

Excuse me.

This one works:
Code:
# nslookup -qt=MX imcsite.com
Server:  dnsc1-vp.la.centurylink.net
Address:  209.142.182.250

Non-authoritative answer:

ns1.mediatemple.net	internet address = 64.207.129.18
ns2.mediatemple.net	internet address = 64.207.128.18

This one does not work:

This one does not work:
Code:
# nslookup -qt=MX outdoor-equipment-parts.com

Does etc/resolv.conf have anything to do with my problem?

This is what I have in my etc/resolv.conf:
Code:
nameserver	209.142.182.250
hostresorder	local bind
search

Yes, resolv.conf is the config under gethostbyname(), the dns client call. nslookup will use it if you do not redirect it.

Most mail domains are configured by mx, but occasionally the domain resolves to a host, also, an A record. That host may also have a trivial web server to redirect to www.domain.

No need to bump, I monitor my subscribed threads before going to search unanswered. I was just busy getting my shoulder surgery, making a living at the same time since I am hourly, preaching love on linked in and facebook, doing end of month balancing at home and the big release at work, and doing more serious tech discussions on linked in. It is good to have some time to google and read on your own. I try to teach you how to fish.
