Combining three space delimited files by column

I have three space delimited files, how do I combine them by column in Unix? Thanks!

paste file1 file2 file2 > file4

It does not work, it merges them row by row but not as columns.

I don't know what you mean. Could you post an example of the input and output data you want?

Was it really necessary to create a duplicate thread?
