Bartus11, Well that's funny, LOL!!! I'm really laughing!

fpmurphy,

so would you recommend taking cheap Sun box from ebay for a training? I'm not sure how smooth it will go with virtual solution. I just want to learn Solaris, not to troubleshoot virtual machines.

If you only want a system for training purposes, something like a SunBlade 150 will do. Just ensure that it comes with the System Configuration Card. A regular PC display, mouse and keyboard will work with these systems. You can pick them up cheap on Ebay.

Yahooo! I just got and unpacked It! WOW it is just like brand new! Even the original carton in there! And this thing is really beautifully made! All top notch materials, very well made, no loose parts, super solid. I turned it on, it powers up! I opened the enclosure and what a beautiful design inside, no cables hanging! I'm very impressed.

openboot is amazing! I can load kernel right from ok prompt! I wish bios could do that. I like it without grab, it feels so natural

Running Solaris Sparc Apps on X86 Solaris

I know that Sun make s a version of Solaris for Sparc platforms and also an x86 (Intel/AMD) release of Solaris. Can an application that runs on Solaris/Sparc also run on a PC running the x86 release of Solaris? Would a different release be required or any re-compling of the application? jim (1 Reply)
