Help Uninstalling Linux!

Hello,

I have a laptop running Fedora Core 2, and I am trying to wipe it to put on Windows. Even though the CD is listed first in the boot order, it will not boot to the Solaris system disk.

How else could I format this laptop?

Sorry if I've misunderstood - but what has Solaris got to do with it?!

Is this message board exclusively for Unix?

If so, then I apologize. Through searches, I've seen that there are some Linux related posts, so I thought that I might be able to get some assistance as well.

You did not answer the question, Yes, this is a board for UNIX, and Yes, Gnu/Linux questions are accepted, thats not what Zazzybob is questioning.
You stated you want to remove Fedora Core 2; which is Gnu/Linux, so you can install Microsoft Windows, then you say that the CD for Sun Solaris does not boot. Thats 3 different operating system your referring to.

Why are you trying to use the Solaris CD to remove Fedora Core 2?

Indeed. Your question is perfectly valid, and is in the right place, don't worry!

I was just baffled as to where a third OS was entering the uninstallation procedure.

In order to uninstall Fedora, I'd do the following:

1. Change boot order (you've done this)
2. Insert Windows CD
3. Reboot
4. Use the Windows Installation procedure to reformat the Linux partitions as Fat32/NTFS, and install Windows.

If you are trying to install Solaris for i386, or any other combination of OS's, please provide some more information.

Cheers
