Rename all .sh files to .pl

I have various .sh and .pl files in one directory. I want to rename all the .sh files to .pl

i.e testscript.sh --> testscript.pl


I am trying to use mv *.sh *.pl

It doesnt work though!!

Thanks, after a bit of googling, found a one liner that works

rename .sh .pl *.sh
# 4

syntax error at (eval 1) line 1, near "."

May I know how it is working for you?
