Alias help

I can get the nth line of a file using
Code:
sed -n 'np' file

however all I want to type is "line n file" so I am trying to use alias
Code:
alias line='sed -n \'&\''

but its not working, how can I make this work

Thanks

First off - line is already a command. You can break other working scripts by creating a line alias.

Code:
# filename of script == lin
sed -n "${1}p" $2

Code:
#in your profile add
alias lin="$HOME/lin"

Code:
lin 42 myfile

will now print line 42. ps: for big files you might want to make the command something like:
Code:
sed -n "${1}p;${1}q" $2

This closes the file after it finds the line. The difference on 200K line files is very noticeable.
