Question NIC driver building question

I'm way confused. I loaded RH 7.1 on an old P-75 Compaq. IT has an EtherExpress pro/100 card in it and I have that attached to the optional port on our firewall with a crossover....I can't seem to get the card to negotiate with the firewall...it's currently 100Meg at Half duplex. I'm at a loss here. I know precious little about rebuilding drivers from source, etc, and when I make what I believe are the correct changes, then run the 'make' command, I get errors from the source I downloaded. Any thoughts on where I can get more info on this, or do you have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Hi,

Have you tried downloading the eepro 100 diagostic software available at:

ftp://ftp.scyld.com/pub/diag/eepro100-diag.c

Also there's a eepro mailing list archive at:
http://www.tux.org/hypermail/linux-eepro100/

The eepro100 home page also has alot of info, the home page is at: http://www.scyld.com/network/eepro100.html

Hope this helps

re: problems with nic card

Andy/Neo,

Thanks for the direction. I know that my card is supported, and I'm sure those sites you sent me will help. I downloaded eepro100.diag.c and compiled it, but I don't know what to do with it now. Is there a specific directory it needs to be in? Simply keying in 'eepro100-diag' does nothing ('command not found')....I am WAY new to this....sorry. BTW, I ran the compile as recommended in the source, and received no errors, and eepro100.diag was created in the same directory.
