Job is taking long time
Hi ,

We have 20 jobs are scheduled.
In that one of our job is taking long time ,it's not completing.
If we are not terminating it's running infinity time actually the job completion time is 5 minutes.
The job is deleting some records from the table and two insert statements and one select statement.All the SQL statements are executed properly.And the log file is created.
But the job is not completing.
We can manually kill that job.But how can we make the automated process to make that job complete .
We are facing serious problem,because some other jobs are dependent on that job.

Please help me.

What code is actually run on the server? And what OS and DBSM is involved? You might be able to trace it, see what system call it's blocking on...

This sounds like a record deadlock. Another process has the table record locked for update, your process is waiting for the record to be given up, so it can delete the record. A DBA can get into the db, and trace what processes have the record open.
You have to supply the table name(s).

As jim mcnamara told, there might be deadlock on one or more tables used by this script that can be checked by DBA.
OR may be you are running sql script but not quiting at the end in sql script.
You may add some debug statements in above script at different steps (echo statements) and see at which point this script is stopping, that may give some clue.

But it is completing automatically sometimes.

Then there should not be any issue with sql script.
Table lock is one possibility.
Would be better to put debug statements in script (create some log) and check log when script doesn't complete.
