Updating a template - Ubuntu Image

Hello,
This might sound like a really silly question but that is why i post it in Unix for Dummies Smilie

I am a little confused as to how I can install software or remove software from an image (say an ubuntu template created out of an already existing system). Is there a direct way to do that to the template? Or do I need to delete it from the host system and then create a new template?

Depending on how the image is stored, there may be ways to modify it, or not. What is the image stored as?

It is just stored as a template (directory). Is that what you were asking?

Ahah.

If the permissions are all correct, you might be able to chroot into it, and run system commands from there as if you were in it. Something like chroot /path/to/root /bin/sh
