Which OS in which version?

Basically, the server itself doesn't care about "external" or "internal", that type of configuration depends more on the cabling and access restrictions (via firewall and/or VLANs) than on the IP address.

Maybe, I explained not clearly.. I should set the configurations of the server of my Internet provider, I am not sure, but I think that the OS is Linux

I found subnet mask ip, router ip and server ip. The last thing left is to write a script which sets if it is an external or internal ip, maybe someone can tell anything on that? any ideas?

There is a convention for using certain IP address ranges for Intranets and these IP address ranges are not used on the Internet.
There is a reserved range for Class A, B and C Intranets.
Providing that the convention has been followed it is possible to determine whether an IP address is Internal or External.
