few questions

a. where can I find the RAM of a server? im about to install redhat on a server (reformat). need to know because it will be my basis for swap size. i saw something line 3048MB detected upon boot. is this the memory?

b. what is the command in lunux to check the original size of all hard disk? in solaris its iostat -En..how about in linux?

a) cat /proc/meminfo

b) Original size? As in, different from what it might be now? I don't know a command that would remember what it used to be.

sysinfo calls can return physical memory size on some systems, often in pages, but gives the page size, too. df can show you the available VM, not including address space and RAM you fill using mmap(), like most synamic links.
