Directory file transfer...help

Data Directory file transfer...help
I'm a real newbie, and I'm stuck trying to ftp download a directory and all contained files/directories. I'm using mget but I have to create all the directories locally first (pain). How else can I do it withing the ftp command.

Apologies for sound stupid but we all gotta start somewhere.

Using FTP, the mget command does not allow for retrieving entire directories under normal ftp servers/clients. You can retrieve multiple FILES, but not directories and the files contained in them. One option you may have is to tar all the files on the remote machine and ftp that file. I'm going out on a limb here, but maybe Ncftpd can do what you are trying to do. I personally don't know, but that program is slightly more advanced than simple ftp servers. You may want to check it out.
