Rename files to indexnumber in multiple folders
I have multiple subfolders with multiple jpg

I want the group of files in each subfolder renamed to their index number (3 digits) in the folder, so:

Code:
folder/a.jpg = folder/001.jpg
folder/b.jpg = folder/002.jpg
folder/c.jpg = folder/003.jpg
folder2/1.jpg = folder2/001.jpg
folder2/2.jpg = folder2/002.jpg
folder2/2.jpg = folder2/003.jpg
folder3/dae.jpg = folder3/001.jpg
folder3/ght.jpg = folder3/002.jpg
folder3/olp.jpg = folder3/002.jpg

How can this be done with a unix script?

hi,
an example: you can pass a parameter (folder) to the script.


Code:
DIR=`ls $1`
index=1
cd $1
for file in $DIR
do
new_file="00$index.jpg"
mv $file $new_file
index=$(($index+1))
done


bye
