Data Ports...

Hello UNIX people...

This is my first foray into the UNIX world so go easy on me...

I have a client who has hired me to do some work on his windows stuff, BUT it just so happens his UNIX server started giving him problems...

He is running SCO Open Server 5.0.6

The TTY ports won't enable. When they do they use up 100% of the resoures...

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance. I am looking forward to delving into UNIX. I have wanted to learn for a long time and this is the perfect excuse!

The Cause

As it turns out when enabled the port began replicating itself... It is fixed now after much ado...

I will post again regarding the solution as soon as my associate shows up.

He spent some time on the phone last night fixing it. I am glad he did, because they had first stated it was a hardware issue and he needed to replace the board...

Did I mention he was running Dual Xeon Procs and Raid 5?

Yeah, Just replace the board that'll fix it, just don't call back if it doesnt...Smilie

We appreciate your posting the solution. We don't have a lot of SCO expertise here so every contribution to our knowledge base helps.

Data Happy to be of service!

I usually post the solutions (if they haven't been answered) on the boards. They are such a terrific tool. More than once some cowboy somewhere has pulled my bacon out of the fire so to speak... It's nice to return the favor.

With a bit of luck, assuming I have the patience to learn yet another new trick... I will be continuing to learn Unix and will be a regular...

Thanks for running a solid clean board. It is impressive. I am of course assuming it's your board... I particularly like the matrix like effects up north...

So it seems

So it seems. Well I am glad he's out there then. I hope to make a humble contribution myself. I got Red Hat 9 up and running yesterday, but haven't had time to play yet...
