sed how to delete between two words within a file

I'm hoping someone could help me out please Smilie

I have several .txt files with several hundred lines in each that look like this:

Code:
10241;</td><td>10241</td><td class="b">x2801;</td><td>2801</td><td>TEXT-1</td></tr>
10242;</td><td>10242</td><td class="b">x2802;</td><td>2802</td><td>TEXT-2</td></tr>
10243;</td><td>10243</td><td class="b">x2803;</td><td>2803</td><td>TEXT-3</td></tr>
10244;</td><td>10244</td><td class="b">x2804;</td><td>2804</td><td>TEXT-4</td></tr>

I want to remove everything from the first </td> to the end </tr>

So I'd end up with:
Code:
10241;
10242;
10243;
10244;

Or delete all characters from the 7th character in each line.

I looked around and tried some in SED and AWK commands in terminal but failed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Smilie

Thank you

This one is more accurate (in cases where there are more or less than 5 digits):
Code:
sed 's/\(^[0-9]*;\).*/\1/' file

or even
Code:
awk -F';' '{print $1";"}' file

Code:
sed 's/;.*/;/'

Code:
cut -c-6
