No such file or directory error while copying files

Hi,

I need to copy files from one dir to another dir.
The list of filesnames to be moved are in a file called files2cp.log

Script:

Code:
#!/bin/ksh

exec 0</home/amdocs/files2cp.log
while read LINE
do
   cp -i /iccs33/attach/"$LINE" /iccs30/attach/"$LINE"
done

The output is "No such file or directory"

If i manually check, the file is present. And am able to copy it manually also( single at a time). Moreover permissions are also same. Kindly help me out.

Thanks,
Srini

below the line:

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your quick reply.
Following is the sample response:
Code:
 sh File_Mover_Script.sh
+ exec
+ 0< /home/amdocs/files2cp.log
+ read LINE
 /iccs30/attach/1611043078.0133862868.tif.tif
: No such file or directoryttach/1611043078.0133862868.tif
+ read LINE
 /iccs30/attach/1611280507.C091212-Mohamed Din Abdul Rahman.xls.xls
: No such file or directoryttach/1611280507.C091212-Mohamed Din Abdul Rahman.xls

I can see, its adding the extension twice,but in the physical file its actually once.

Try this:
Code:
#!/bin/ksh

while read LINE
do
   cp -i /iccs33/attach/"$LINE" /iccs30/attach/"$LINE"
done < /home/amdocs/files2cp.log

or:
Code:
#!/bin/ksh

while read LINE
do
   cp -i /iccs33/attach/\""$LINE\"" /iccs30/attach/\""$LINE\""
done < /home/amdocs/files2cp.log

The corrupt error messages in the "set -x" version of the post make me wonder if the input file is in MSDOS format (like from Windows notepad) and contains spurious carriage-return characters.

Please post a few lines from this command which is designed to make line terminators visible. A normal unix text file line will end with $ whereas a MSDOS file will end with \r$ .

Code:
sed -n l /home/amdocs/files2cp.log

The same could equally apply to the script itself.
