The company I want to work for uses solaris, so any info on that would be appreciated.

Just to let you guys know I'm not trying to get in way over my head. The company trains you with what you need to know. I'm just trying to get a head start thats all.

Well, your best bet then is to go to www.sun.com and download their free X86 version of Solaris. That will run on some PCs, but the supported hardware is pretty limited. If your hardware won't work with Solaris, then go with Linux instead.

Also at Sun's website is an area called "bigadmin" which has lots of articles and faqs on it.

Finally, docs.sun.com has literally hundreds of Sun manuals and books you can either read on the web or download in pdf format. Check there, many are free.

I've done some due diligence by searching the forum for an answer, but to no avail. Excuse this most elementary of questions.
