UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi folks;
I have a temperature sensor that configured with an IP address so we can open a browser to see the temperatures in our 3 labs all showing in one screen.
I'm trying to write a script to call this link then email me the results/output so i don't have to open a browser manually every morning to check the temp.

here's the link:
http://myservername/temp

what i see on the screen when i browse this link is this:
Lab_1|70.3|Lab_2|74.1|Lab_3|67.8

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can retrieve the URL automatically with wget.

Thanks for the quick response. I used it and it works. Is there a way to read the output and alert by email if the temp for any of the three labs exceed 80 F?

Probably. That'd depend on the contents of the file though :P
