Bootup Error

Hi all

The following error was displayed when a sco server (5.0.5) was booted. What should be done to overcome the problem. Replies appreciated.

Bios 03.0
0130688 KB memory good
01 processor(s) in system
remote console dialing on, please wait
connect fail : modem off
cpu clock mismatch
cmos battery bad
cmos checksum error
equipment configuration error

which command invokes the remote dialing ??

It looks to me that it has nothing to do with remote dialling, but more to do with the CMOS battery on the server's mainboard.

Replace the CMOS battery and then go from there. You may need to reconfigure the bios/cmos/whatever according to the particular system architecture you are using.

From where and why the message
"remote console dialing on, please wait ........
connect fail : modem off"
is coming.

How to disable remote console dialing?.

That looks like a bios problem, but I've never heard of a motherboard that supports remote dialing. My first step would be to read the docs about my motherboard. If it is a bios issue, there will be a key sequence to interrupt the boot process and recongure the bios. But that may not work until you replace that battery.

Replace BIOS Battery, Configure BIOS to Boot on All Errors.

Here is what I think you need to do:

(1) Replace your BIOS battery (very important).

(2) Configure your BIOS to boot on ALL errors (so no errors shutdown the booting process).

Let us know what happens.
