I basically know how to add/rm users, kill pids and monitor diskspace. Not an idiot, but honestly a windows database person. I don't know much about what I am asking about.
In the /var/adm/messages file, today this was added:
I checked the drive's lights and none are amber, but perhaps I should run a check to see if any of the drives have been degraded or are failing?
What are some good first steps to see what is going on? Can someone point me to some novice tips on verifying in a drive is in disrepair?
I guess some more info on my system would help (duh):
SunOS my_server 5.8 Generic_117350-46 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
Thanks in advance,

Reason: code tags, please... (sorry) and added OS version info.
It would be worth consulting the disk manufacturers website for the definition of the SCSI error codes you are seeing.
Looking at: Astronomy Department Computing Report January 2000
