Trying to compile and looking for old libraries

I have been working to install gparted on Centos. Compiling gparted required a number of thing I didn't have, so I downloaded and comilied them as root. After a lot of frustration, I tried using a sript to do it in another directory and removed all of the previously compiled code which was in /root/downloads. Now I am attemping to compile pango, among other things and the comilation is looking in /root/downloads. I have checked my LD_LIBRARY_PATH, made a new /etc/ld.conf.cache, but its still looking for libraries in /root/download which is no longer there.

You seem to have issues with your makefile.

Did you edit the makefile carefully?

gparted is available for Centos via yum. Why did you decide to build your own version?

I could not find gparted

I tried various forms of yum install and kept getting nothing installed. How do I find the exact name of packages that are available? Thanks.

All I did was ./configure and that made the Makefile. I don't know why the make is trying to look for library paths that don't exist.
