Question How to Get the count fo files in each subfolder

is there a command to get the count of files inside each sub directory in a directory.

in a directory like this
/opt/:> ls

I need to see the count of files in sub directories like this:
/opt/subdir1: 3 files
/opt/subdir2: 5 files
/opt/subdir3: 10 files

Many Thanks

I suppose one simple way would be:

bash code:
  1. find . -type d | while read DIR; do
  2.   ls $DIR | echo $DIR $(wc -w)
  4. ... or echo $DIR $(ls $DIR | wc -w) ... if you prefer!
  5. done
